Bruce Mitchell has been Chairman of Geography, Associate Dean of Graduate Studies and Research for the Faculty of Environmental Studies, Associate Vice President Academic, and currently is Distinguished Professor Emeritus, Faculty of Environment, Department of Geography and Environmental Management, University of Waterloo.
His research specialization is the institutional and policy aspects of water management, and integrated resource and environmental management. He hasstudied water management for over 35 years, with particular attention to integrated management. He has written/edited 26 books or monographs and over 130 articles. His publications have been translated into Chinese, French, Indonesian and Spanish.
He has received the Award for Scholarly Distinction in Geography from the Canadian Association of Geographers, a Distinguished Teacher Award from the University of Waterloo, the Service to Ontario Geography Award from the Canadian Association of Geographers, Ontario Division, and the Distinguished Service Award from the Canadian Water Resources Association.
